Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. As a child she attended the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was inspired to become an actor by the age of six. Over the course of several years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing as well as dancing, and also acting. Her performances had been in numerous Stagecoach and school productions before she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaption from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was discovered through Emma's Oxford Theatre instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were selected as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the big screen took place in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. This film was 2001's highest earning film, smashing records on opening day and first weekend. Reviewers were awed by the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British paper, praised her for her outstanding performance. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for an feature Film. She was later recognized five times in recognition of her part in the film.
